Fairtutors is dedicated to providing specialist tuition provision for children and young people. Our registered address is Briers House Lane, Sheffield, S66HD, United Kingdom, with Company Number 13140764. This safeguarding children policy applies to all individuals working with Fairtutors, including staff, managers, trustees, directors, volunteers, students, or anyone representing the company.
Our primary goal is to protect the well-being of children and young people receiving our services, including the children of our adult clients. Fairtutors is committed to preventing abuse and harm to children and young people, and this policy provides guidance and principles for our volunteers and staff in safeguarding and child protection.
While most children grow up in safe environments, we acknowledge the potential risks, including but not limited to sexual abuse, grooming, physical and emotional abuse, neglect, domestic violence, bullying, self-harm, unsafe environments, and exploitation.
Fairtutors believes in the paramount importance of a child's welfare, regardless of factors like race, gender, religion, disability, age, sexual orientation, or identity. We recognise that some children may be more vulnerable due to their circumstances or communication needs.
We classify events and activities into three categories:
(A) Events open to all ages,
(B) Events for children accompanied by a 'parent,' and
(C) Events for unaccompanied children.
Each category has specific guidelines regarding supervision and enrollment.
Fairtutors offers various activities for children, such as online tuition sessions, which may require adult participants or leaders to undergo DBS and/or police checks. The level of checking depends on the degree of unsupervised access to children.
Before hosting events for unaccompanied children, we conduct risk assessments to minimise health and safety risks. Parents and children are informed of specific risks and precautionary measures.
Fairtutors has a zero-tolerance policy towards bullying. Incidents of child-on-child bullying are addressed promptly, with involvement from parents. Adults involved in bullying children will be dealt with in accordance with this policy.
We do not take or publish photos of children attending our events without prior written permission from someone with parental responsibility.
Physical punishment is strictly prohibited, and physical restraint is only allowed in extreme cases to prevent harm. Unacceptable behavior is addressed by separating children, and further disciplinary actions may be taken as outlined in this policy.
This policy complies with relevant legislation and guidance in the United Kingdom, including the Children Act 1989, the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, the Children Act 2004, the General Data Protection Regulation, and the Data Protection Act 2018. Fairtutors, as an organisation, endorses and reviews this policy every year to ensure its effectiveness in safeguarding children.
